Treaty of Porteaux

Preamble:

The Frontierist Republic of Talonia and the Crowned Republic of Carcassonne, henceforth referred to as, “The Signatories”, in recognition of their shared commitment to Frontierism, and out of a sense of mutual respect, mutual goals, shared ideas, and historical cooperation, agree to the terms laid out in this treaty:

Article I: Mutual Recognition

  1. The Frontierist Republic of Talonia accepts that, as detailed by the Constitution of Carcassonne, the government of Carcassonne is the sole legitimate ruling body of Carcassonne,
  2. The Crowned Republic of Carcassonne accepts that, as detailed in the Constitution of Talonia, the government of Talonia is the sole legitimate ruling body of Talonia.

Article II: Mutual Defence

  1. The signatories agree to provide military aid and support in the event that the legitimate government of either signatory is threatened via legitimate military action or by external threats that seek to undermine the sovereignty of either signatory.
  2. In the event that either signatory seeks to perform a Delegate Transfer, the other signatory agrees to support the transfer, as far as is practicable.

Article III: Diplomatic Relations

  1. The signatories agree to uphold embassies, both on site and off, and to continue communication on regional news and topics that may be of interest to either signatory.
  2. Both signatories will assign a diplomat to serve as the ambassador between either signatory, who will represent their own region respectively.
  3. The signatories are encouraged to support the diplomatic decisions of the other signatory, as long as it is not actively in violation of their own regional interests.

Article IV: World Assembly

  1. The signatories will agree to support each other’s interests in the World Assembly.
  2. In the event that a World Assembly proposal is authored or co-authored by a member of the other signatory, the signatories are encouraged to vote in favour, unless the proposal is in direct opposition to an existing treaty.

Article V: Military Cooperation

  1. The signatories agree to support each other’s military activities going forward, unless it is in direct opposition to either signatory’s regional ideals.
  2. It is to be recognized that, unless in direct violation of Article II, refusal or the inability to support a military activity proposed by either region shall not be used as legitimate reasoning to end the treaty, and it is not in violation of it.

Article VI: Cultural Cooperation

  1. In recognition of this treaty and the friendship built between the signatories, the signatories agree to host inter-regional events to promote interconnectedness on at least one occasion annually.

General Provisions

  1. The treaty and its articles shall come into effect upon the signing of the treaty by representatives from both signatories.
  2. If the possibility that either signatory is in violation of the treaty becomes a reality, both signatories agree to come together to discuss diplomatically the potential breach of the agreement.
  3. In the event that either signatory wishes to exit the treaty, the other signatory must first be informed via diplomatic channels, and thereafter the treaty will be considered null, and the agreement to have ended.
